Healing is Boring and Slow
In a world of Amazon Prime, DoorDash, and Netflix, we get what we want—instantaneously, if not very quickly. This is a wonder and a testament to the advances we’ve made technologically in our modern world. However, the “fast pace” of our lives distorts our expectations of natural processes, such as healing.
A baby ideally needs to be in the womb for nine months. A fruit tree requires many seasons before bearing fruit. Yet when we encounter an illness or health challenge, we often look for instant results. Unfortunately, this leads us to make choices based on the desire to feel better quickly, which can ultimately set us astray.
We conflate the alleviation of symptoms with actual healing. Sometimes that’s okay. If you have a big family vacation coming up or an important project that needs to be completed, temporary relief from pain can be very valuable.
However, it is not a sustainable or viable long-term strategy for health. Masking pain and symptoms without addressing the root cause will lead to further deterioration.
Our office is designed around this founding principle: there is a root cause, and we are committed to identifying and correcting it. This process can be tedious and slow, but at the end of the day, the lasting results from true healing are priceless and worth the effort.
