Understanding Your Care Options

Once we have completed your examination and reviewed the findings, the next question is straightforward: What should we do about it?

At Precision Chiropractic, recommendations are based on what we find during your history, examination, imaging when appropriate, and how those findings relate to your individual situation.

Our goal is not to place every patient into the same treatment plan. It is to determine whether there is a meaningful problem that we can address and, if so, what level of care makes sense.

Not Every Patient Needs the Same Amount of Care

Two people can have similar symptoms but very different underlying findings.

One patient may have a relatively recent problem following an injury, while another may have years of accumulated structural and functional changes. Age, injury history, current function, examination findings, and response to care can all influence our recommendations.

Because of this, the frequency and duration of care should be individualized rather than determined by symptoms alone.

When an Upper Cervical Correction is Recommended

If your examination indicates that an upper cervical problem appears clinically meaningful, we may recommend a precise upper cervical correction.

The goal is to address the finding we identified and then evaluate how your body responds.

Upper cervical corrections are performed gently and without routine twisting or cracking of the neck.

Why We Reassess Before Adjusting Again

One of the major differences in our approach is that receiving care does not necessarily mean being adjusted at every visit.

After an upper cervical correction, we reassess.

If the objective findings indicate that the correction is holding and the patient is progressing appropriately, another correction may not be necessary that day.

We want to give the body an opportunity to adapt rather than repeatedly introducing an intervention simply because an appointment is scheduled.

What if the Problem is Somewhere Else?

Sometimes an examination reveals that the upper cervical spine is not the primary issue—or that another problem requires attention as well.

Depending on the situation, appropriate care may include another healthcare provider, rehabilitation, medical evaluation, additional imaging, or another form of treatment.

Our goal is not to make every patient an upper cervical patient. It is to determine what appears clinically relevant and help you make an informed decision about the next step.

What About the Rest of the Spine?

Although our adjusting approach is highly focused on the upper cervical region, we evaluate the patient as a whole.

The spine functions as an interconnected system, and changes in one region can influence posture, movement, muscular activity, and loading elsewhere.

When we identify findings outside the upper cervical region, we consider whether they represent compensation, an independent problem, or something that may require a different approach.

Symptom Relief vs. Correcting the Underlying Problem

Feeling better matters—but symptom relief is not the only way we evaluate progress.

Symptoms can improve before an underlying functional problem has fully changed, and symptoms can also fluctuate even while objective findings are improving.

That is why we consider both how you feel and how you function, along with the objective findings identified during your examination.

Our objective is to address a clinically meaningful underlying problem when one is present, rather than simply chasing symptoms from visit to visit.

Your Role in the Decision

We believe patients should understand what we found, why we believe it matters, what we recommend, and what alternatives may exist.

You should be able to make an informed decision about your care rather than feeling pressured into a predetermined treatment plan.

What Happens Next?

After reviewing your examination findings with you, we will explain whether we believe upper cervical care is appropriate and what we recommend moving forward.

If you have not yet been evaluated and would like to determine whether our approach may make sense for you, the first step is a consultation.

I started seeing Dr. Lin almost two years ago and the difference he has made with my headaches is truly remarkable. I had migraines often when I first started seeing him, and although my headaches haven’t fully subsided that’s partially due the physical position I’m in while doing my work; however, I find going once a week is incredibly helpful and makes it manageable. I can feel when I need an adjustment right away, and I immediately feel better every time. My quality of life has changed and it’s nice to have someone I fully trust that helps keep my head on straight so I can give care to my patients too! I’m grateful to the entire staff for always being so kind, welcoming, and working with my schedule! Thank you 🙏

If you are struggling with cervical, back or shoulders issues I highly recommend Dr. Lin. I am very thankful to have found him. What really sets DrLin apart is his approach to chiropractic care. Rather than the traditional “cracking” or adjustments, he uses a specialized tool, a more scientific targeted approach. I have received tremendous improvement in my back pain. His staff is equally impressive. They are professional, kind and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Lin and his team to any one looking for knowledgeable and compassionate chiropractic care. If you’re pregnant, go see Dr. Lin! He is Webster certified and helped keep my body aligned throughout pregnancy so my baby could stay in an optimal position. A few times she shifted, and after an adjustment she’d be head down again within hours. I even went into labor about two hours after my last adjustment! Dr. Lin is so calm and gentle, and his entire team is wonderful. It honestly felt like visiting friends every week.
