In the modern age of medicine we have more options for treatments than ever before in human history. But do more options lead to better choices? From general physicians to specialists you can find anything you want as a consumer. Conventional chiropractors also play a role in this modern medical landscape by offering temporary relief for neck and back aches. But who is offering the option of prudence? The saying “less is more” might be truer than ever before in a world where there are more medications, more surgeries, more interventions, more adjustments. Is there a time and place for medications, surgeries, and other types of interventions? Yes, of course, but the important point is knowing when and where.
At Precision Chiropractic, our goal is to identify and stabilize the underlying shift in the spine. Instead of adjusting 4-5 different vertebrae on every visit, our diagnostic tools allow us to identify the specific vertebrae that need to be adjusted. More importantly, the same tools allow us to know when a vertebra is still in place and when an adjustment is NOT necessary. If the bone were in the correct position, an adjustment would be worst thing that could happen. Is the goal to get as many adjustments as possible? Or is it to have the underlying shift corrected AND stabilized? Does your wound heal quicker if you pick at your scab?
My advice? Leave well enough alone.
